More Council Bullshit

Today an illegally parked car almost caused me to crash coming down a steep hill on 13th St. NW. The car belonged to none other than Ward 2 Council Member Jack Evans.
The vehicle was not in a marked bike lane, but the right lane is pretty important to cyclists in the absence of painted lanes, and this car was violating at least three rules: No Parking Any Time sign, Emergency No Parking, and parking less than 15 feet from an intersection.
If I had crashed (and it was a close call were it not for a kind driver one lane over who stopped short to let me in), it would have been no consolation that the council member did not have to spend 5 minutes finding a legal and SAFE place to leave his car, like everyone else.

learn to drive in the city and stop crying every time a car gets in your way. maybe you should look for a nice condo out in falls church?

Hey, guess what? Councilmembers don't have to obey parking rules. That is the law. That means it's not illegal for this car to be here. Beyond that, if something as commonplace as an illegally parked car gets you this riled up, I am surprised that a single day of just being in DC doesn't make your head explode in a million bloody pieces.
But anyway, it is clear you didn't know that councilmembers can park anywhere. Just like you didn't know that double parking while loading and unloading is legal, and you have to be in the bike lane to turn right, and segways are legal to ride in bike lanes, and ... well... you're a dumbass.

Hey, guess what? When someone parks in an spot where parking isn't typically legal, and thereby causes me to almost get injured or killed, I get riled up. Really fucking riled up. Because I like living, and I'd like to continue living, and not have that whole great deal fucked up by some asshole who's too fucking lazy to turn the corner and park in one of the two parking garages within 20 or so yards of that spot. Diplomats don't have to fucking pay their tickets, but I still get fucking mad when they cut me off without signaling and almost kill me. Just because it's the law doesn't make it right. Hell, just because it's in the Consti-fucking-tution doesn't make it right, unless you're a big fan of bullshit like the 3/5 Clause and taxation without representation in majority black jurisdictions.
Seriously, assholes, I bet if freedc had posted this and said, "No big deal, but hey, try and do better next time," you'd have been on here posting some bullshit like, "What, are you too much of a pussy to even get mad at the guy?! I mean, some two-bit local politician almost killed you with his irresponsible behavior, and you aren't even mad about it? Why don't you just grow a pair, or better yet, move to Falls Church?"
So yeah, fuck off.
