Bike Lane Submissions
Driver: "Look at this open lane no one is driving in!"
R and 16th st, Washington, DC
This genius driver drove in the bike lane for nearly an entire block, blocking bikers the whole way.
UPS Making a Biker's Life Hard
14th ST NW and P ST NW, Washington dc, DC
UPS delivery truck parked in the 14th ST NW bike lane (facing South, towards Rhode Island Ave NW).
Isn't it ironic?
R and 11th NW, Washington dc, DC
This meter maid (ahem, parking enforcement agent) had pulled into the bike lane to write up a ticket.
Readin' The Paper... Doot Dee Doo
14th St NW between P St NW and Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington dc, DC
The pic's too close to see it, but there's a wide open parking to the right and just behind.
Veering Right
7th Street and T Street NW, Washington dc, DC
This guy seems to have drifted into the bike lane purely out of spite since it's hard to see what he thinks he's accomplishing.
Stuck in the Middle With You
R Street and 7th Street NW, Washington dc, DC
I'm not sure it was such a great idea to make this stretch of the R Street bike lane run between two car lanes, but that's where they put the bike lane. No excuse for the guy to be driving here either since both the forward traffic lane and the right turn lane adjacent to him were vacant.
Garden District making it tough to be green
14th and T St NW, Washington dc, DC
So, more trouble with delivery trucks using the thoroughfare to unload. Franly, this is annoying because there is an alley that this truck could unload to just a few steps from the store AND the store encourages its patrons to hand-truck purchases home.
I felt like this was a worthy infraction mainly because the driver had made poor parking job. As you can see, he is parked against the curb, but his port-tail sticks into the bike lane, requiring the bicyclist to leave the bike lane.
Trucks unloading
14th and R St NW, Washington dc, DC
Two cube trucks and one rig were blocking the bike lane so they could do some unloading/loading, however no one was actively working.
My understanding of DC law is that trucks CAN use the public thouroughfare to unload goods as long as they aren't blocking traffic and there isn't available loading docks, but they are required to set up warning cones.
Q St. Bike Lane
12th Street NW and Q Street NW, Washington dc, DC
Sitting in the bike lane at 12th and Q Streets NW. Worse: she sat here for a while then darted out in front of another car using the right lane. A Maryland driver, naturally. Couldn't get the license plate due to glare.
Multimodal 2
14th Street and Riggs Street, Washington dc, DC
Here's the cab -- driver was idling to wait for a friend who was buying something at the pet store.
Multimodal 1
14th Street and Riggs Street, Washington dc, DC
A true multi-modal bike lane block, as a private car, a taxi, and a truck all line up together.
Twofer and then some
400 E St. NW, Washington dc, DC
MPD or city official car - note the red gumball on the dash and the "NON-EXP" registration.
Also visible here:
* UPS truck blocking the other bike lane
* MARKED squad car parked in bus stop
* 2 foot bike lane width to accommodate the bus stop
* "safety" barrels obstructing the bike lane
* 5 pedestrians crossing against the light
* 2 pedestrians crossing mid-block AND against the light
To be honest, I didn't notice any of those things when I snapped the picture. I was simply documenting the a**hole unmarked car, and all the rest just happened.
Diplomatic Immunity
New Hampshire Avenue and Swann Street, Washington dc, DC
Even if they did enforce the law against bike lane violations, I guess this guy could get away with it.
14th Again
14th Street and U Street, Washington dc, DC
Just south of U Street at a popular idling in the bike lane spot.
Apologetic Iowan
Q and 14th St NW, Washington, DC
I had to stop, since there was traffic pulling around this vehicle. The driver was getting back in her car, and she said "Sorry." As she turned around, I snapped a photo.
Mark III
14th Street and U Street, Washington dc, DC
Van half in the bike lane on 14th Street just south of U.1
Right Turn
T Street and 14th Street, Washington dc, DC
Two people in the car, sitting mid-block, right turn signal on, blocking the lane.
drive-by lane violation on R St. NW
R and 17th, Washington, DC
Didn't want to stop, so I missed the license plate.
FBI police cruiser parked in bike lane
9th and E St, Washington, DC
Unoccupied police vehicle blocking the bike lane on busy street.
Hazard lights make it OK, right?
New Hampshire and Dupont Circlke, Washington, DC
New Hampshire Ave right off of Dupont Circle, 8:50pm
14th St fun
14th and U St, Washington, DC
Car blocking the bike lane at 14th and U St (14th Southbound) approx. 9pm 6/8/08.
Minivan blocking the bike lane on Columbia Rd Eastbound, Washington DC
Columbia Rd and Mozart Pl, Washington, DC
Approximately 12:30am, Saturday, June 7, 2008. It's sad because this stretch of road (which I ride daily) has a bike lane for only about 200 meters.
Thomas Circle
1101 Vermont Ave NW, Washington dc, DC
When I took this picture, the guy came out of the car and rushed me, saying "I'm going to smash you in the face." I started biking away and he smashed me in the back with his fist. I am pressing assault charges.
Cop in the bike lane
14th St and N St NW, Washington, DC
No flashers or blinker or any sort of warning, just a car in the bike lane. The flash reflected hard off of the plate and also made the lights appear on, but trust me, they weren't. Car #354.
