Some people block bike lanes while just running into a store for a minute. Some while they're trying to turn or get around traffic.

All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

Policy bar/lounge/restaurant on 14th Street routinely uses the bike lane as their private valet parking zone, either staging cars there for drop off and pick up, or placing their sign directly in the bike lane. Not very neighborly.

Not one, not two or even three, but at least half a dozen drivers decided they had the right to take over the entire bike lane for a full block just because someone died.

This Penske van was parked in the bike lane on 4th St SE, right next to a huge parking spot. Apparently the driver was too lazy or too incompetent to parallel park.

DC's finest didn't feel like staying out of the bike lane. By the time I got the camera out he had drifted back a bit; the previous couple of blocks the cruiser was another foot or two into the bike lane. Didn't seem to be any particular reason for it...

after taking this, the lady ordered me up to her car, asked why I was taking a picture- I told her she parked in a bike lane and even had an open parking slot in which to slip in. She cussed me out and said she was waiting on someone getting dialysis. (sign on the door said the place was closed- my guess is paying a water bill) She claimed to be an officer. (all the more reason to follow the law) On the other side of street two patrol cars are parked, in the lane on the other side, metro van is parked behind her, leaving only one lane of traffic to get though- so much for bikes on this impassable street.

The car was parked on the west bound lane of the 1300 block of E. Capitol St. While I was taking a photo, another biker had to merge into the lane of traffic to get around this.

I was riding down 14th St and saw a cabbie double park his car right in the bike lane and go into Al's for what was presumably a slice of pizza.

This guy apparently thought it was ok to park the wrong way in a parking space and block half the bike lane. I realize there's no IQ test for buying small cars with mediocre fuel efficiency, but this is particularly dumb.

The USCP officer was parked there all day. There was no reason why he couldn't have been parallel to the curb and out of the bike lane.

What's the point of all these new bike lanes downtown if they're used almost exclusively as loading zones for delivery trucks?

Just a moment before a column of traffic had past, but this guy still had to veer around a car on 13th and Massachusetts. The bike lane south of Thomas Circle becomes a default parking lot most evenings (and during the day). Taxis also like to idle in the bike lane on this block.

Water is great, but unobstructed bike lanes are better.
